Connecting an AI app

You can connect Claude, ChatGPT or Microsoft 365 Copilot to IssuesId and ask about your projects and defects in plain words. "How many open defects are issued to Apex Plumbing on level 3?" comes back as a count or a short table, with the reference, location and status of each defect and a link that opens it in IssuesId.

The connection uses MCP (the Model Context Protocol), the open standard these apps use to reach tools outside the chat. There is no plug-in to install and no API key to manage: you add one address to the app and sign in.

Who can connect

Company Admins, Managers and Users can connect an app, in every company. Each person connects their own app and signs in as themselves.

If the Connected AI apps card on your Profile says connecting is not turned on, your company has asked IssuesId to turn it off. Your company admin can contact IssuesId support to turn it back on.

What it can do

The connection is read only. The app can:

  • →Find defects from a description, such as "the cracked tile at the lift lobby on level 2".
  • →Count or list defects filtered by project, status, Issued To, classification or location, with a link to the same filtered list in IssuesId.
  • →Count defects by group: by status, Issued To company, classification or level.
  • →List your projects, so it can narrow a question to the right one.
  • →Look up a name: turn "Apex", "level 3" or a person's name into the exact record, and ask you to pick when two fit.
  • →List report types you can run.
  • →Search the help, these articles, and say whether your role can do what you asked.

It cannot change anything. Statuses, assignments, notes, photos and the audit trail stay as your team left them.

What it can see

Exactly what you can see when you sign in. Every question runs as you, with your role, your permissions and your project access, through the same checks as your browser. A Manager on two projects gets answers from those two projects.

Connect an app

  1. 01In IssuesId, open your Profile. The Connected AI apps card shows the server address with a copy button. It is the same for everyone: https://api.issuesid.com/mcp
  2. 02Add the address to your AI app:

- Claude: open Customize › Connectors, choose + Add, then Add custom connector. Name it IssuesId, paste the address and choose Continue. If Claude asks how to register, choose Register automatically. On Team and Enterprise plans an Owner adds it once under Organization settings › Connectors, and everyone else chooses Connect. - ChatGPT: turn on Developer mode in Settings, create a new app or connector named IssuesId, paste the address and leave authentication on OAuth. - Microsoft 365 Copilot: in a Copilot Studio agent, open Tools › Add a tool › New tool › Model Context Protocol, paste the address as the Server URL, and choose OAuth 2.0 with Dynamic discovery.

  1. 01The app sends you to IssuesId. Sign in, read the consent screen and choose Allow. The screen names the app, the account and company it will act as, and where it sends you back to. Only allow an app you started connecting yourself.
  2. 02Back in the app, ask "Which projects am I on?" to check it worked, then ask your question.

The AI connectors page has the steps for each app in more detail, with links to each provider's own guide.

Disconnecting

The Connected AI apps card on your Profile lists every app you have allowed, when you connected it and when it was last used. Choose Disconnect and that app's access ends straight away.

Access also ends without anyone disconnecting:

  • →when your account is deactivated or you leave the company, every app you connected stops on its next question;
  • →when your role changes to one that cannot connect;
  • →when IssuesId turns connecting off for your company at its request.

Privacy and the audit trail

  • →The answer to each question goes to the AI app that asked, under your agreement with that provider, the same as anything you paste into it.
  • →IssuesId logs each call: which app, which tool, which filters it used and whether it worked. The values and the answers are not kept.
  • →Sign-in codes and tokens are stored only as one-way hashes. Each refresh token works once, and an app that replays an old one is cut off.

What to read next

  • →Roles & dashboards: what each role can see, which is what an AI app can see for you.
  • →Search: the search bar inside IssuesId.
  • →Reports: the reports an AI app can tell you about.
  • →AI connectors: the overview, with an example conversation.
