Rectification
Rectification is the work of fixing a defect so that it meets the contract, the drawings and the specification. A rectification notice tells the responsible party what to fix and by when; a rectification period is the time allowed.
Australian and British usage. North American documents more often say correction or remediation; the meaning is the same.
Rectification is where a defect either ends or comes back. The trade fixes it, says so, and someone has to decide whether to believe them. The failures are a repaint over a leak, a fix photographed from the flattering angle, and a line ticked by somebody who was not there.
How IssuesId holds it
In IssuesId the trade marks their assignment complete only after attaching a photo of the finished work; the button is disabled until they do. That puts the defect at ready to inspect. Someone who did not do the work verifies it against the before photo and closes it, and the two names and two photos sit on the record.
Two questions people ask
Definitions describe common usage and the usual shape of standard-form contracts. Your contract and your jurisdiction’s building law set the terms that apply to your job. The whole list is at the glossary.
